i'm obsessed with rainbow cupcake/cake lately and have seen many good ones online which inspired me to bake some. i decided to do the lazy (short) way by purchasing a package of white cake mix and a box of assorted food colorings and have a little experiment with it. although it's a fun project to do but mixing the color to a desired shade does take extra time and it's messy. mine consisted of 5 colors (starting from the bottom layer): lime green, pink, sky blue, orange, & purple. i was a little disappointed that the rainbow cupcakes didn't turn out well as in taste, texture & appearance; however, the color combination looks amazing. luckily, this is only an experiment and i'm glad i didn't make the batter from scratch but will need to work on lining the colors neatly.
