baby earflap hat

happy 2015 everyone! here's to another wonderful year! during the fall/winter season, i picked up knitting again and made an earflap cap which was one of the patterns from the knitting book "all you knit is love" by susie haumann. the yarn choice is madelinetosh sock and the colorway is sugar plum. i love the simplicity of this hat in stockinette stitch and the little details make it an adorable baby hat. i hope to knit/make more things in 2015.

it all began several years ago when i finally realized my dream goal was wanting to be a product/package designer besides owning a patisserie (cafe) shop. as long as i have ideas of some sort, i will continue to create and make things and this only mark the start of my new product designing project which i'm happy to share with you all.

another great craft project to do and the radish sewing pattern is available in  Made by Hand: by Lena Corwin. there are a few other patterns in this book i would like to make when i have the chance or time.

*p.s. i've mistakenly sewn the bottom of the radish as the top but hey, it works this way too. btw, i'm not good at following directions. :)

tiny knitted rabbit



featured as a prop for my baby congrats card (see post below). i gave this knitted rabbit a little life by dressing her up which reminded me of playing dress-up to paper-doll as a little girl. i used felt to make her top. you can find the free pattern here.

2014 calendar

 

a little late on sharing this diy calendar i made for twenty fourteen. it's a simple black and white calendar i designed/created using heavy cardboards, black construction papers, free printable 2014 calendar, a few hole-punches/closures, and applied to it my own penmanship of the twenty fourteen letterings in ribbon style. happy april/spring!

quilt

after several years, i finally finished this quilt which has been sitting in my stash for the longest time. my plan was to make a full size quilt but i ended up only making half the size and here's to another baby/toddler blanket or a preferred throw/lap blanket. next time, i think i will just stick to a simple square quilt. i will be gifting this to a friend. 

kate

the kitten, pattern by jess hutchison on knitty. here are the front & back photos of how kate looks. i finished knitting her in two days since it was a gift to a friend and it was a pleasant pattern to follow. 

morning juice

healthy and delicious, to jump start the day. made with carrot, apple, celery, spinach and a little knob of ginger. 

fabric bin

i need a storage box for my spools of yarns so i made a fabric bin with remnants of fabrics and some card boards. to get an idea on how to make a fabric bin, i just watched a video tutorial on it via youtube and figured-it-out-as-i-make-it-my-way. now, my yarns are neatly stored in a bin. 

preserved kumquats

it's kumquat season and these tiny citrus fruits are just what i need to make a big jar of preserved kumquats. last year i only made a small jar of it and it's a year old now and ready to eat. i still haven't opened the small jar yet but will do so later. the longer it sits the better it is according to some sources. preserved kumquats can be used in drinks, some dishes, jams and whatever you can think of. i want to make strawberry- preserved kumquat jam which i saw from a cooking show a while ago and kumquat drinks. there are also other kumquat recipes that i would like to make such as the kumquat-jalapeno marmalade i made last year and this candied kumquats.

making more of my christmas tree ornaments for holiday gift-givings and stuffing each cellophane bag with a tree ornament, lindt chocolate in a mini bag version along with my handmade card of the orange blossom tree. i also made a handle for each cellophane bag by hole-punching it and using decorative red yarn for the string handle and sealed it with decorative masking tape as well.  ~enjoy your holidays! 

holiday ornaments

here are several different felt ornaments i made in time for the holiday. viewing from the bottom photo (in clockwise), there's a mitten in lilac, a red velvet donut with pink glaze and sprinkles, a decorative christmas tree, and a zig-zag striped turquoise ornament. i followed patterns for all ornaments except for the christmas tree.  ~ have a jolly winter holiday, everyone! 

doughnut-making

as in ornament using felts, sequins, and ribbons. november is flying by rather quickly with thanksgiving approaching and december is just around the corner and that means the holidays are coming up. well, in preparedness of all that, i'm making some doughnut ornaments for christmas decoration. today, i spend half day making these and end up having only one completed. i will need to make a few more doughnuts but you can find the tutorial/template here.

striped socks

in 3x1 ribbed pattern. good, simple, mindless, and fun knitting project is what i prefer most of the time.

pyramid sachets

filled with dried lavenders. i'm making these pyramid pouches for party favors. it's a very simple sewing project and also a great way to use up small scraps of fabrics. the lavender scented sachet not only make a cute ornament, it can be placed in clothes drawer/dresser, closet, or car for a wonderful fragrance. i followed this pattern with step-by-step photo tutorial which makes it so easy to make.

bow-knot scarf

in a bigger version. here's the pattern and i also used instructions from the baby's bow-tie scarf  as a cross reference.

zippered pouch

when it comes to sewing a zipper as in a zippered pouch for instance, i get intimidated by it. in fact, i'm not good at working with zipper and i usually end up having to remove it and resew it which take up a lot of time. after watching a video tutorial on youtube on how to sew a simple lined zippered pouch, i gave the zipper another try and with care and patience, i successfully tackled the task. come to think of it, it wasn't that bad actually and will consider using zipper in my sewing project again.

so happy to have found this baby version of the bow-tie scarf pattern for free, it is such a cute scarf. (thank you liesl of disdressed!) i finished knitting the scarf in one day and didn't think it will be that easy but it sure was. i also found an adult version of this pattern called the "bow-knot" or "tuck-in" scarf and might even knit up one when i have a chance.
